I was wondering if there was any good advice on resume writing specific to the game development industry?

The IDGA page on resources related to "Breaking In" is a veritable treasure trove of information. Some of the best links lead, though, to one of two other sites which should be familiar to anyone in or wanting to be in the games industry, whether indie or mainstream. The first, and most well known, is gamasutra.com. In addition to the normal articles on getting into the industry, there have been several gamasutra blog entries on the topic. By far the most useful was "Writing a Resume for a Game Company" by Darius Kazemi in his gamasutra.com blog. If you don't already read his main blog, Tiny Subversions, I suggest you subscribe, post haste. Finally, slightly less well known than its sister site (if more obviously named), Game Career Guide had a series on the first steps for getting into the games industry. They covered resume writing in the second part of the series. |
